1-Stop Translation Returns from Southern California Government Procurement seminar

This month 1-Stop Translation has recently returned from the Southern California Government Procurement seminar. The event was held on Wednesday, December 19th,2012, at the Garden Suite Hotel, in Los Angeles, California. The seminar was hosted by KOTRA also known as the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles, Korean Inventors and Traders Association and the World Federation of Overseas Korean Traders Association Los Angeles Chapter.

The seminar highlighted several essential factors, but majority of the presentations illustrated the tantalizing factor of 8A certifications. According to statistics the City of Los Angeles spends up to $1.8 billion in contracts annually. Only 12 % of those who are awarded contracts actually come from Los Angeles and the rest are bestowed to companies outside the Los Angeles area. The Mayor of Los Angeles plans to level the playing field by setting concrete goals to increase the city’s contracts to small, women-owned, minority-owned and disabled veteran-owned businesses.

This year the company was represented by Vendor Manager, Gina Lee and Marketing Associate, Tony Kim, “It was a very informative and educational session, as far as understanding how people in attendance as minority business owners could successfully put their foot in the door to get as much business out of the government as possible.”
