The ChallengeWe were approached by one of the leading translation agencies in US, which has contracts with Nuclear related institutions. Their clients needed to visit multiple nuclear power plants in China for a period of time of 4-5 weeks. The plants were located in different regions of main land China and some of them were in some very remote areas. It was very difficult to find an interpreter with the knowledge of the nuclear field and terminology willing to travel extensively to various Chinese cities for 5 weeks.
The Solution
Again, this was a job tailored for our efficient China office. Instead of choosing one candidate in USA, we secured 4 experts in different provinces of China. Each of them could work about a week not far from their home. At the end the subject or schedule of interpreters was not so much as problematic as the scheduling of transportation and hotels. Booking and scheduling can be extremely challenging in China as often transportation and reservation systems are not as reliable.
After the project had been completed, our client sent us a letter telling us this project would have been impossible without the help of our Chinese project managers who were willing to accept calls to their personal number even at night time to help them find other means of transportation when they were having problems with their original reservation.
