About Thai Translation

One thing that's good to keep in mind is that Thai has a variety of words with the same meaning that's used to show different level of politeness. For example, if you want to translate the word "eat" into Thai, you will more than 5 choices of words to choose from depending whether it's a formal situation, informal situation, when you're addressing monks, or when you're addressing the royal family.

Thai is closely related to Lao; both are also using similar alphabets which derived from the Khmer alphabet. Over half of the words in Thai and Lao are the same. It's very easy for a Thai speaker to understand Lao and vice-versa.
